Culinary Summer Camp

 The Hospitality School is offering a Summer Culinary Arts Camp. The purpose of this program is to provide opportunities for students with disabilities, ages 14 to 21, to engage in career exploration in the culinary arts field during summer vacation from school.

The goal of the program is to provide students living in New Castle County career exploration in the field of Culinary Arts. The objective of the program is to increase the students’ knowledge about culinary arts and the career opportunities in this field.

                 -Meat & Poultry Cooking
                 -Vegetable & Starch Cooking
                 -Breakfast Cookery
                 -Etiquette/Table Manners
                 -Dining Room Table Service
                 -Canning & Dehydrating Techniques              

 ¨ Certifications
                -ServSafe Food Handler Certificate
                -Customer Service Certification

¨ Workplace Readiness Skills
                -Life Skills & Resume Building
                -Basic Financial Literacy
                -The dangers of social media
                -Job Shadowing in our Catering Dept.

¨ Urban Gardening
                -Planting & transplanting
                -Harvesting & Seasonal Planting
                -Watering & Weeding

Culinary Arts Program

         Þ 3 weeks hands on Culinary Training

Þ Each student receives a $100 stipend for successful completion at the summer Graduation and Family BBQ.

Þ Chef Coat, Hat, & Aprons-Student must provide their own black pants and nonslip shoes.

Þ Three week bus pass or gas card

Þ Lunch provided daily 

2016 Class Schedule

Monday—Thursday 10am—2pm

                    Class 1-    June 20th—July 8th

                    Class 2-    July 11th—July 29th

                    Class 3-    August 1st—August 19th                 

Each student must be interviewed to be accepted into the class. We only have 20 spots available for each class.
Classes fill fast, so please do not delay.
